Easter is Approaching !!!

Date Published 17 April 2025

If you've recently visited your local supermarket, you'll have noticed that the UK is going all-out for Easter. Easter eggs in every size imaginable: from tiny, crunchy ones to huge, soft chocolate eggs; chocolate bunnies; Easter cards adorned with images of rabbits and fluffy yellow chicks...

It can be a bit overwhelming, especially if you're from a country where Easter isn't widely celebrated. So, here's a guide to everything Easter in the UK.
In the UK, Easter is a major celebration. It often revolves around indulging in lots of chocolate (always a treat!) and is symbolized by themes of new beginnings and fertility — with eggs and bunnies taking centre stage.

Easter eggs, fluffy chicks, and chocolate bunnies make the holiday feel more like a joyful Spring celebration than strictly a religious occasion.

However, for Christians, Easter is still a deeply significant time to remember that Jesus of Nazareth sacrificed his life and rose from the dead three days later, offering hope and forgiveness to all. In this sense, there's both a religious Easter and a more secular, festive version of the holiday.

Here are some of the most popular Easter traditions in the UK. Friends and family come together to exchange Easter eggs (the bigger and more indulgent, the better!); entire families partake in early morning Easter egg hunts, darting around gardens and parks to find and devour eggs that were hidden the night before.

In some places, entire parks and public gardens get involved in the fun.
If you ever get the chance to join an Easter egg hunt, you'll quickly discover just how energizing it is to race around in the (hopefully) warm spring sunshine, searching for chocolate treasures. On a sunny Easter Sunday, it truly feels like Spring has finally arrived, bringing light and warmth, while Winter's chill fades away.

This connection is no coincidence, as the theme of light has long been a central element of Easter celebrations, going back to ancient times.
